Welcome to my blog... I'm going to post some pictures of the things I've been making and record the progress of my venture into the world of crafty commerce.
I've been focusing on making jewellery from recyled beads and these are for sale on a fantastic little stall in Afflecks Palace in Manchester. As well as using recycled materials I make some of my own beads and love nothing more than shopping for new beads. I am also co-producing a recipe book and love baking so have included my baking adventures too.

A very vegan birthday basket

It is my friend's birthday today and for his birthday I made a vegan hamper. It contained homegrown courgettes and beans, a vegan coffee & peanut butter cake, a homemade loaf of bread, tomato & chilli jam and carrot jam. Marvellous.

Carrot Jam- Very delicious like marmalade but prettier. Extremely easy to make. This recipe made 2 jars.

Ingredients

1 pound of grated carrots
3 cups of sugar
The juice and zest of 1-2 lemons according to taste

1. Place all ingredients in a pan, on a medium temperature heat until sugar is dissolved and at gentle boil
2. Reduce heat and simmer for around 30 mins

Today I made...

Cherry & plain scones and a coffee and walnut cake.

I am eating a piece of the cake and listening to Dimmu Borgir...it's an interesting and intense combination.

Scone Recipe.

8oz of self raising flour
2oz of butter
1oz of sugar
around 100ml of milk (with a drop of lemon juice if available)
cherries optional

Preheat oven around 200c

1. Rub the flour, butter and sugar into breadcrumbs using the tips of your fingers
2. Add the cherries or any other flavour
3. Add the milk a little at a time until combined (you may need a little more- they seem to work best when the mix is a little wet).
4. Turn the mix onto a lightly floured surface and with your hands (I never use a rolling pin) press into an even shape a couple of inches thick.
5. Using a scone cutter or something similar cut your scones
6. Place on a prepared baking sheet- Bake until golden brown and sound hollow when the bottoms are tapped.

Things I found in the countryside

I love this. I love it love it love it. It is especially ace at Christmas. I really wonder if I'm allowed to add things to it. If you can't see it clearly there are a couple of fake animals, some pot plants, a solar light and a fairy. The dog things it's really impressive too.

I found this one day also... I have no idea what it is
